Wrightstown Elementary School

Success for every student, every day

 WES Letterhead

Principal Message:

Dear Wrightstown Families,

Welcome to the 2016-17 school year!  Wrightstown Elementary School serves students K-4 with approximately 215 students.  Wrightstown Elementary School is truly a special place.  Wrightstown benefits from a long history of strong academic excellence and student centered traditions.  This is made possible through the collaborative partnership between school staff, parents, community members and students.  Encouraging every student to reach his or her full potential is the responsibility of all of us in the Wrightstown Learning Community.

The staff of Wrightstown is dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment for all students.  High standards and opportunities for academic and personal growth are the foundation from which we build upon. It is our belief that all students can achieve!

Parents play an integral part in their child’s educational experience.  It is important that you encourage and establish the routine of consistent attendance, homework completion, good sleep habits, and a healthy breakfast.  This will allow your child to be prepared and alert for the school day.

Students at Wrightstown learn using the Journeys reading and language arts program. In addition to providing instruction using small guided reading groups, this curriculum also is aligned with appropriate curricular topics in each grade level. Balanced literacy is a focus and students are encouraged to read independently and develop written expression at their instructional level. Math instruction is also a high priority in Wrightstown’s instructional program. In addition to using the enVision math program, students are encouraged to solve problems tied to real-life situations. First in Math is a web-based supplement to the regular program which provides remediation and extension exercises to reinforce core concepts in our math instruction.

Wrightstown students continue to practice the components of The 7 Habits of Happy Kids to foster good citizenship and character-based instruction. Students are recognized for their good behavior using our Caught Soaring Above and Beyond program.

Communication between home and school is a vital component to the success of our children.  The school’s website and Parent-Student Handbook have been created to keep you informed and offer supportive services.  Please take some time to explore our website to view the various resources available to you.  Regular communication from the school will also be sent via weekly listserv messages and monthly newsletters.  I encourage you to review these emails to stay informed regarding school events and important information throughout the year.  We invite you to get involved through Wrightstown’s PTO membership! This group holds monthly meetings and works to provide exciting opportunities for our children.

I am delighted to be partnering with a talented staff, supportive parental group and caring community. Together we can create the best learning environment for the students of Wrightstown.  With a team effort and supportive working relationship, I am confident we can make our school an even better place for our students to learn and grow.  Please contact us at 215.944.2306 if we can assist you in any way.

All my best for a successful 2016-17school year!
