I am the Literacy Specialist at Rolling Hills Elementary School. Recently, I achieved additional certification in the area of Reading Recovery from New York University. My job at Rolling Hills is to support and enhance classroom instruction in the areas of reading and writing. I deliver the Fountas and Pinell LLI program(Leveled Literacy Intervention) to first and second grade students. This is a small group intervention program designed to accelerate literacy learning. LLI groups meet five times a week. Students in grades 3-6 meet in small groups once or twice a week in "Reading Club." Together, we learn to think, read and write about texts to develop critical comprehension skills that will transfer to new reading tasks. Sally Wright is back this year to support student learning in the Title I program. Linda Ullrich will be joining Sally at Rolling Hills in the Title 1 program this year. Both Sally and Linda will be working with first and second grade students. They are wonderful assets to the Rolling Hills' staff, and we are fortunate to have them with us.
