Title I is a government funded program which provides supplemental reading assistance to children in first, second, and third grades. Children remain in Title I for the entire school year and are invited to attend a free academic camp in the summer.
At Churchville, children are recommended for Title I by their classroom teacher and Churchville's Literacy Specialist.
The Churchville Title I Program is currently serving a total of 48 students with three Title I staff members. Each student meets with their assigned Title I staff person for two or three 30 minute sessions per week. Some of the sessions are individual and some are group lessons. The lessons teach students to use strategies they need to become fluent and independent readers.
