PARENTS: THIS IS IMPORTANT

Immunization Information from the School Nurse

You have been receiving information regarding new or booster immunization requirements under Pennsylvania law 28 PA CODE CH.23 for students entering school in August, 2011. The accompanying document entitled Are Your Kids Ready for School? details the varied requirements for children entering ALL grades as well as specific requirements for children entering 7

th grade. I am pleased to report that many current and entering Council Rock students are already in compliance.

If you are a parent of a student who is not currently in compliance, you have already been notified by your school‛s nurse. This notification included the specific immunization needed for compliance. Your child will be considered to be compliant upon our receipt of written physician notification of the required immunization(s) and the date it was given. Please direct all such information* to your school nurse, Julie Roccograndi, email-jroccograndi@crsd‛org, phone-(215)-944 1509/1609 or to me at Newtown Middle School, 116 Richboro Rd. Newtown, PA 18940, or faxed to me at 215-944-2698 (Attention School Nurse). It is important to note that a child shall be exempt from the requirements for immunization if the parent or guardian objects in writing to such immunization on religious grounds or whose physician certifies that the child‛s physical condition contraindicates immunizations.

*This information is due on or before August 28, 2011.

Please be aware that the specific immunizations listed in the accompanying document are required as a condition of school attendance in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and are provided to insure that school children are immunized against potentially dangerous diseases which spread easily in schools. Any students not in compliance may be excluded from school and restricted from school attendance until the immunization is documented or you have submitted an acceptable plan for compliance.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter. I wish all Council Rock families a happy and healthy summer.
