Hi All,

Just to give you a heads-up, I took all the following notes using an iPad and the program CloudOn, which gives you access to Word, PowerPoint and Excel. I then saved the different notes into a DropBox which I am sending you this link from.

In School, I opened each individual page and pasted it into one big page which I then uploaded to dropbox for all of you to see.

The clickers seem more difficult then It has to be

Procedures

Ipad project – Bethlehem school district

8th grade for middle school

Feb 2011 they put in for approval, board approved May

10 teacher ipads, 70 student ipads, 7 laptop sync stations, cases

Training – very minimal

School owns apple id’s, apple volume purchase program, avpp

Fuse algebra program and purchased ebooks for English

Students sync ipad to laptop, in homeroom via usb

Iphone configuration utility, aup

Science teacher challenges

                Easily ability to preview apps

                No student email access

Bump app – do not use

                Needing to replace broken ipads -6 out of 80 – less than 10%

                Ability to print – printopia app $20 – must run on a standalone mac

                Roverflash – app that will run flash

                No flash

                Sharing files – good reader app

                Distraction

                                Ipads are not propped up – They have them lay on the desktop so you can see what they are doing

                Camera and video can be great tools in the classroom

                Some textbooks and English books are available on the ipad

                No textbook will be more than $15 yearly – From Apple

                Moodle app – putting lesson in the net and then students can get it using ipad

                                Video physics – will create a graph of movement from the video

                                Goodreader – can open any document – can save and send or collect assignments ($4.99 per machine)

 alterntative school – no damage yet since September – students are more engaged – 1 to 1 program not home

Dropbox must have 13 year olds or more

How are apps added?

Teachers took ipads home for the summer

They looked at the apps to make the decision – teachers could download apps to see if it is useful

No budget money for apps so they were all free

Most apps are drill and practice

Wanted more creative apps

Byod – guest web –working well in a school district

Androids are cheaper and more open then ipads

VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE A COACH!

Teachers and students must be able to explore
