B. Desko Mr. Barry J. Desko - Director of K-12 Education

Mr. Desko is in his first year as Director of K-12 Education after having served as the Director of Secondary Education since 2006. Previously the principal of Newtown Middle School for twelve years his other experiences were in junior and senior high school settings in Bucks County where he served as teacher, athletic director and administrator.  Mr. Desko has a BS in Health and Physical Education from West Chester University and a MS in Education from the College of New Jersey.  He also holds a Principal's Certification from the College of New Jersey.  He has been with Council Rock for over twenty-two years.  He and his wife Risa have three children.

A. Funk  Mr. Al Funk - Principal

Mr. Funk is the principal at South.  Previously he served as an assistant principal at CRHS-North for five years.  Mr. Funk received a Bachelor's Degree in English from Villanova.  He then continued his education at Arcadia University where he received a Master's Degree before completing his education at Penn State by earning his administrative certification.  The father of five boys, Mr. Funk and his wife are currently raising their five boys, ages 10 to 20 years.

 
L. Cariello
Ms. Lynn Cariello - Assistant Principal
 
Ms. Cariello holds an undergraduate degree from Rider University. Her undergraduate studies focused on business administration with a major in computer science. A native of New Jersey, she worked for Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc in New York City, and then became the Director of Management Information Systems at an Accounting Firm in Princeton, New Jersey. After a successful career in business, she returned to Rider University where she received a Master's of Arts in Curriculum Instruction and Supervision. Ms. Cariello then spent five years teaching  at Central Bucks High School East. During that time she returned to Rider University where she received her certification in Educational Administration and became a house principal at Central Bucks High School East before assuming her current position at Council Rock High School South as an assistant principal.

Scott Layer

Mr. Scott Layer - Assistant Principal/Athletic Director

Mr. Layer recently joined the Council Rock School District and will serve as an Assistant Principal and the Athletic Director at Council Rock High School South.  In 1992, he began his educational career as a sixth grade teacher at Elkins Park School in the Cheltenham School District and remained there for 13 years.  In 2006, Mr. Layer became an administrator at Cheltenham High School and for the past ten years, held several positions including Director of Athletics and Student Activities, Assistant Principal and Athletic Director, and Vice Principal.  After graduating from Upper Moreland High School, Mr. Layer earned a basketball scholarship to Lehigh University, where he was the starting point guard on the Men’s Basketball Team for four years.  While at Lehigh, he received a B.A. in Sociology and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. He also holds a Principal's Certification from Arcadia University. Mr. Layer and his wife, Lauren, have four children and enjoy spending time with family and friends.

 
Radick
Mr. John (Buff) Radick - Assistant Principal
 
Mr. Radick came to Council Rock in 1999 as a Business Education teacher.  His prior role at South included the position of Athletic Director. In addition to his teaching, Buff served as the Men's Basketball Coach (13 years) and the Men's and Women's Golf Coach (5 years).   He also served as the Dean of Students for two years.  As an undergraduate, Mr. Radick earned his B.S. in Business Administration from LaSalle University and then completed a teaching certification program through Rider University. He completed his Principal's Certification at Drexel University.
 
S. Gormley
Mrs. Susan Gormley - Assistant Principal
 

Mrs. Susan Gormley has served children in both private andpublic school settings in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.   She has been a regular and special education teacher, building principal, and central office administrator.   Mrs. Gormley became a proud member of the Council Rock School District in 2005.  Mrs.  Gormley holds a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from West Chester State College, a Masters Degree in Special Education from Lehigh University, Principals’ Certifications from East Stroudsburg University, and a Special Education Supervisor Certificate from Arcadia University.   She and her husband John have two sons.  In her spare time, Mrs. Gormley enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

McCarthy
Ms. Susan McCarthy - Principal
 
Ms. McCarthy has served as principal of CRHS-N since its opening in 2001.  Prior to this current role, Ms. McCarthy was the Council Rock High School principal, principal of Richboro Middle School, a high school guidance counselor, and high school English teacher.  After earning her BS and MS degrees in Communication Arts Education from Temple University, Ms. McCarthy completed her MA in Counselor Psychology and Principal's Certification from Rider University.  She completed her formal education with a Letter of Eligibility from Arcadia University.  The mother of two adult children, Ms. McCarthy is an avid reader. 
 
Rob Findlay
Mr. Robert Findlay - Assistant Principal/Athletic Director
 

Mr. Findlay currently serves as the Athletic Director and 10th Grade Assistant Principal at North. He earned a BS degree in Secondary Education - Math from Penn State University and a Master's Degree in Education Administration from Gwynedd-Mercy University. Mr. Findlay has 13 years of classroom and administrative experience. He also is an adjunct professor at Gwynedd-Mercy University teaching statistics. Mr. Findlay is happily married with two children and a third on the way.

Mr. Daniel Griesbaum - Assistant Principal
 
As Assistant Principal, Mr. Griesbaum has a vast number of academic and athletic experiences.  He previously served as North's AD. A graduate of Bloomsburg University where he earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees, he completed his Principal's Certification at Alvernia College.  Mr. Griesbaum has seventeen years of classroom and administrative experience.
 
N. Scott
Mr. Nate Scott - Assistant Principal

Mr. Scott joined Council Rock in 2004.  After receiving a Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, he continued his education and earned a Master's in Educational Administration from Widener University.  Prior to coming to Council Rock, Mr. Scott taught a wide variety of social studies courses and coached a number of different sports. 

 
Jason T

Mr. Jason Traczykiewicz - Assistant Principal

Mr. Traczykiewicz is in his third year as an administrator.  Mr. Traczykiewicz has been with Council Rock since 2003. He served as a science teacher, class advisor and baseball coach at CR North prior to moving to his current administrative role.  Mr. Traczykiewicz is a graduate of King's College and received his Educational Administrative Certification from Delaware Valley College.  Mr. Traczykiewicz is married and has two children.

Mr. Richard Hollahan - Principal             
Mr. Hollahan is Principal of HMS after previously serving five years as principal of Richboro Middle School and five years as principal at Newtown Middle School.  After graduating from Council Rock in 1983, Mr. Hollahan earned his Industrial Technology teacher certification from Millersville University.  Prior to coming to Newtown Middle School in 1994, Mr. Hollahan taught Industrial Arts / Technology Education at two other Bucks County Schools.  Mr. Hollahan assumed the role of Assistant Principal at NMS in 2002 and was appointed principal in 2006 before moving to the principalship of RMS.  His personal interests are: family, church, and outdoor activities.

Mr. Tim Long - Principal
Mr. Long is the Principal of NMS after serving five years as assistant principal.  Prior to coming to Council Rock he served in several teaching and administrative roles in Arizona.  Mr. Long is a West Chester University graduate with a BS degree in education and he later earned special education teaching certificate from Montana State University.  He completed his education at Arizona State University earning a Master's Degree in Educational Supervision.   He and his wife are the proud parents of two children.

Mr. Timothy Keddie - Assistant Principal

Mr. Keddie is entering his second full year as the Assistant Principal of Newtown Middle School.  He brings of wealth of educational and administrative experience previously serving as an athletic director and house principal at another Bucks County high school, former dean of students at CRHS South, and special education teacher.  Upon graduating from Council Rock in 1991, Mr. Keddie earned his BS in Psychology from Temple University, MS in Education from Holy Family University, and Educational Leadership Certification from Cabrini College.   He and his wife Pam have two children.   Mr. Keddie is avid reader, loves to ski, and enjoys coaching soccer.

 Andy Sanko
 
Mr. Andy Sanko - Principal 

Mr. Andy Sanko is proudly serving his fourteenth year as a Council Rock administrator, and is currently a member of the Richboro Middle School team in the role of Principal. Andy was principal at Holland Elementary for more than a decade, and also served as Assistant Principal at Richboro Middle in 2004-05.  Other roles Andy has held within Council Rock include math -technology specialist, and classroom teacher. Andy's other experiences include mentoring aspiring teachers and administrators, coaching various sports across all age groups, and serving as a board member for the Council Rock Education Foundation. Andy earned degrees from Lock Haven University, Bloomsburg University, Holy Family University, Immaculata University and is currently a doctoral candidate at Temple University. Andy and his wife Sue are the proud parents of three children.
