PAST YEARS.....1995 -2006

 

 

     Newtown Elementary Library's past honored guests have included so many talented and excellent models that have shaped our school in both what we read and how we write.  Our first principal, Mr. Mark Klein, a reader and writer in his own right, made this school a reading and writing school from day one.  With leadership and insight on his part, trust in his creative and multi-talented staff plus the love of children, Newtown's library evolved into a resource room filled with tech tools and treasured books.

 

 

     In order to ensure Mark Klein's vision we brought in the brightest, and best authors and illustrators from all over the US and the world during these past fourteen years.  One of Mr. Klein's mottos from Emerson is, "Your work should be in praise of what you love." Looking at the selection of books  we have in this library and our author/illustrator wall it is obvious that we love what we do and it shows.

 

 

1995-1996   December 8, 1995  (K-6)  Denisen, Margy Burns Knight, and Ann Sibley O'Brien. These three talented ladies composed music, drew pictures and set the words and pictures to music in all grades all in one day.
