CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
COOPERATION RESPECT RESPONSIBILITY SPORTSMANSHIP
At the beginning of the 08/09 school year, our Holland Staff introduced the new program to all students....grades K thru 6. Letters were sent home to parents explaining that their students would be encouraged to focus on learning about four very important life values....COOPERATION, RESPECT, RESPONSILITY and SPORTSMANSHIP...better known in our program as the "FOUR PILLARS OF CHARACTER."
The students have been assigned "character development" homework to complete with family members...focusing on one of the four character traits each week. Parents have been asked to help by practicing these values at home as well as at school so that our students realize that parents and staff members....together.... are striving to help their children become good citizens of the future.
We believe that helping the children develop strong character skills in a positive atmosphere, will inevitably help to prevent serious behavior problems in the future.
To that end, our Character Development Committee has introduced a great new reward program to compliment good behavior displayed by all of our students.
